...to my website, LoneStarVelocity.com. This is where the line "Some Assembly Required is taken to a whole new level. I have created this website for my Velocity SE project. I have developed this website to keep family, friends, and acquaintances posted on my project progress. I also created this website to share information that I have collected along the way with other Velocity builders and hopefuls. I am appreciative of those who developed sites for kit planes before me and the wealth of information I derived from them was wonderful. Also, thanks to those who have been developing alternative engines for aviation, like the Mazda Rotary
Jana and I were able to visit Florida in Late 2001which allowed us to visit the Velocity plant in Sebastian. This was just after the 9/11 tragedy so getting Jana on a jet for the excuse of visiting Universal Studio and Epcot, when we both knew it was so I could check out "my plane was more than just a little bit of effort. Jana does not like to fly on big jets anyway, funny, her big client is Continental Airlines. She is fine with private aircraft. Go figure.
We took delivery of our Velocity SE fixed gear non-quick build kit with yoke option on June 9, 2002. We plan to use a Mazda rotary 13b turbo charged engine.
There are a few reasons why I have developed this website. The most significant reasons include:
* I have family, friends, and acquaintances that do not live in the Houston area, and are interested in my progress. This website allows them to not only read about what is going on, it helps them learn more about the project, and lets them see pictures.
* I also hope that this website will motivate other Velocity builders to send me additional helpful Velocity information that I can post. I think of this as the "lightning rod effect". Each time I meet another Velocity builder, I ask questions like "What would you do differently if you were to do it again?", "What time saving tricks did you figure out in the process?", "What were some of the things you did that really worked well?". I have learned a lot from their answers already. I have to believe that this information would be of value to other Velocity builders and "wanabes as well.
